A Soave That Stirs the Soul

Let’s get one thing straight: this is not your nonna’s Soave. Unless, of course, your nonna had a volcanic vineyard, a third-generation winemaking dynasty, and a rebellious streak as old as the Roman Empire.

Behold the 2022 Inama Vigneti di Foscarino Soave Classico—a wine that’s less “patio sipper” and more “meditative stare into the distance while pondering how humanity got so lucky.” It just landed a 97-point score, which, frankly, feels like the universe tipping its hat in approval.

This wine is grown on the basaltic volcanic slopes of Monte Foscarino, where the vines bask in southeast sunlight and the grapes whisper ancient Roman lullabies (Garganega has been here for 2,000 years—she’s earned the right to be dramatic). Old vines, low yields, and vineyard work so precise it might involve a lunar calendar and possibly a séance—this is what gives the wine its texture, elegance, and that uncanny ability to make you cancel your plans and just sit with it.

Fermentation happens partly in used barriques, partly in large barrels, and partly in steel—because why settle for one medium of complexity when you can have the trifecta? Then it ages on the lees with batonnage every six weeks, which is French for “let’s stir this to deliciousness,” and then rests in steel for six months until it's calm, collected, and ready to blow your expectations out of the water.

This isn’t just Soave. This is Soave that left home, read philosophy, joined a jazz band, and came back with stories. Inama’s philosophy has always been to avoid trends and instead create wines that speak of place, not popularity. So you won’t find Instagram gimmicks here—just a wine that looks back to ancient traditions, and forward to… well, your glass, hopefully.

Order now and bring home a bottle that proves white wine can be serious, soulful, and slightly mischievous all at the same time.

97 Points, Wine Enthusiast
Foscarino as a modern-day muse. An inspiring wine that can lead to greater ideas. This profound wine opens with aromas of quince, roasted Fuji, preserved kumquats and an entire meadow full of flowers that encompasses all senses. Rich on the palate, yet stately the wine threads the needle as flavors of orange flower water, white peach, mint and honey flow into a sea of crushed shells and green almonds giving a salty, savory finish that languishes. Drink Now - 2040 — Jeff Porter

95 Points, James Suckling
This is very intense with electric acidity. Dried apples, lemons and minerals with a salty undertone. Full-bodied with phenolic tension and an extremely long finish. Hints of oyster. Needs two or three years to show its greatness, but fantastic already.
